Welcome to Sylvan Lake!
The town of Sylvan, with its serene blue waters and smooth sandy beaches, rests on the southeast bank of Sylvan Lake in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 18 km (11.2 mi) west of Red Deer and halfway between Calgary and Edmonton. The lake itself has an area of 42.8 square km (16.5 square mi) and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the province. The long freshwater lake offers bronze-bodied visitors a vast range of outdoor activities such as swimming, waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing, jet skiing and boating during the heat of the summer months. During the winter, when the lake freezes over, pastimes such as skating, skidooing and cross-country skiing prevail. Notable attractions in Sylvan Lake include Wild Rapids Waterslide Park, the many shops and restaurants along Lakeshore Drive and the town's annual Jazz at the Lake event. Sylvan is also the home to hundreds of different species of wildlife that dwell in the area.Hotels & Motels
